What to Include in a Brochure (Panel by Panel)

Open tri-fold brochure showing panel layout

A brochure is not a flyer with more room, it is a sequence. Because it folds, readers encounter the panels in a specific order, and a good brochure gives each panel a clear job. Fill it like a brain-dump and it overwhelms; structure it panel by panel and it guides the reader from curiosity to action. Here is the layout that works for a standard tri-fold.

The tri-fold panel map

Inside leftThe problem you solve
Inside centerYour solution / services
Inside rightProof: testimonials, credentials
Back-foldDetails, specs, or FAQs
Back panelContact info + call to action

Lead with the why

The biggest brochure mistake is opening with “About Us.” Readers care about their problem, not your history. The cover and first inside panel should speak to what the reader wants, then introduce your solution. Save company background for later, and keep it brief. The order is: their need, your answer, the proof, the ask.

Key takeaway

Give every panel one job and order them like a conversation: hook on the cover, the problem, your solution, proof, then a clear call to action with contact info on the back. Lead with the reader's need, not your company history.

Don’t fill every inch

White space is not wasted space. A brochure crammed edge to edge looks daunting and gets set down. Short paragraphs, bullet points, clear headings, and breathing room make it inviting to read. If a sentence does not move the reader toward acting, cut it.

Design to the fold

Plan content around how the brochure folds so panels reveal in the right order, and so nothing important lands on a crease. See brochure folds explained and standard brochure sizes.
